Curriculum MAP helps university departments see how individual courses support the goals of a degree. Developed at UBC Okanagan’s Centre for Teaching & Learning, it connects course learning outcomes to program goals so faculty can identify gaps and overlap.
Review and reuse course information
Charts and spreadsheet reports bring the mappings together for review, including programs with many learning outcomes. The Laravel backend batches database queries, caches chart images, and runs Highcharts exports in parallel. Canvas CSV exports preserve descriptions, course groupings, identifiers, and order, saving instructors from entering each outcome again.
The program-copying workflow carries course outcomes, learning activities, assessments, and their mappings into a new program. Faculty can copy courses they own or edit, link existing courses, or request owner approval through signed email links. Background jobs process approved requests in database transactions and remap outcome IDs to preserve the course’s relationships in the new program.
Compare curricula with AI
A Gemini-powered comparison examines two programs for potential strengths, gaps, and areas to improve. It uses program learning outcomes and course structure, checks access to both programs, and requires the user to opt in before sending data to the model. Reports are saved for later review.
